On the 4th, UNESCO announced in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, that the Chinese abacus project has been approved for inclusion in the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, officially making abacus an intangible cultural heritage of humanity. This is also the 30th project in China to be listed as intangible cultural heritage.

Chinese abacus is a method of numerical calculation using the abacus as a tool, known as the "fifth great invention of China". Abacus has accompanied the Chinese people for over 1800 years of history. Nobel laureate Yang Zhenning once said, "The abacus invented by China is the earliest computer in the world."
